One of the most anticipated days of the year for many is approaching: Halloween. For this reason, at Unihabit we bring you a list of university Halloween costumes to share and enjoy a hilarious night with your fellow students at the residence hall.
Creative Halloween costume ideas for college students
Halloween night during your time at university is the perfect excuse to let your creativity run wild and enjoy one of the most fun nights of the year. Whether you are going to a themed party or to a party in your university residence, at Unihabit we bring you some creative costume ideas for university Halloween:
Group costumes
If you are going to celebrate Halloween night at your university residence, this can be a very fun idea. Choose a common theme and agree on a costume, either the same costume or different costumes within the same theme. This idea will create a really fun atmosphere! You can also have a catwalk or a competition for the best costume. Characters from popular series or films, superheroes, living board games or video game characters are some of our ideas for group costumes.
Character costumes
Whether it’s movie-inspired costumes or classic Halloween characters, here at Unihabit we bring you the following ideas:
- Demonic nun: get inspired by the film The Nun – all you need is a nun’s habit and white make-up to simulate pale skin!
- Pennywise: a classic of classics in modern horror – make-up is key here!
- Zombie: another classic for Halloween night. This is the typical costume that will never go out of style, and the best thing is that you can customise it yourself!
- Freddy Krueger: the Nightmare on Elm Street character is a favourite.
- Werewolf: another classic option, combine a t-shirt and ripped old trousers and add yellow eyes with contact lenses for a more realistic look!
- Ghost: use an old white sheet to recreate the more classic costume or use worn, vintage, pale or transparent clothing with white make-up and dark circles under the eyes for a more creative twist.
- Possessed character or exorcism costume: take inspiration from exorcism films – add a touch of fake blood in the mouth or eyes to add some creativity to your costume!
Decorate the residence for a terrifying night!
The moment of decorating the residence hall and setting it up for Halloween is one of the most fun moments you will experience at Unihabit. Get organised with the rest of the students and plan the day that suits you all, together with the residence hall team. On that day you can meet up to decorate and set the atmosphere of the different common areas of the residence hall and especially the area where you will enjoy Halloween night. Decorate the residence hall with spider webs and fake spiders, carved pumpkins, dark or coloured LED lights to set the atmosphere, balloons in the shape of ghosts and pumpkins, fake candles or candelabras, terrifying garlands, etc.
Halloween night activities at the university residence hall
To ensure an original and fun night, you can organise different activities in which you will enjoy a scary night with your classmates:
Fancy dress competition
After all the university Halloween costume ideas we have provided you with, it is time for you to get down to work and start preparing the best costume for the night. During the night, choose 3 students to act as judges or do it by anonymous voting and choose which costume is the winner! Whether it’s for creativity, for being the scariest, etc.
Treasure hunt
Organise a treasure hunt or treasure hunt, carrying out different tests until you reach the end. Divide into teams and may the best team win!
Themed board games
Organising different themed board games is another option to enjoy with your companions in the residence hall.
Horror films
Another great plan for tonight is to have a horror movie marathon in the common room of the residence hall – make a selection of classic Halloween movies and vote for the best one!
